Ring in February at last. Winter is still holding on
with frozen fingers across the region.
Come on and stay awhile, take a break from the usual to enjoy coffee or tea.
New Ideas beacon on the horizon as brighter
days are ahead
Grab a bagel or donut, your usual breakfast of your choice, as they
compliment coffee and make a great start to the day.
Enjoy the simple things again
Winter snuggles are essential
Most important get back to your project, or begin it. Make the first rough draft of the story or poem, or just journal. A blank page is worth a thousand words. Maybe a favorite character of a book or movie inspires you. A word or phrase spoken in the present or the past. Most importantly don't let your self critic get in the way. Just try making the project as you see fit. How does the story begin? How does it end? Is there a cliffhanger to carry the reader to the next story?
Maybe Yoda does enjoy coffee. Unlock the
imagination and go with it.
Take a walk to get some fresh air,
take a road less traveled
Make it how you want it for the other, a note, a whisper
or a touch. Winter days seem to mesh together. Somedays I feel like I'm stuck in the same day. Bill Murray's "Groundhog Day" is a classic.
I'm sure many are in this category, and if one writes a particular genre would it seem logical to seek an editor in that field, one that has worked on many bestsellers. Also keep in mind that the market has changed, from using simple things such as Tiktok or Amazon.
As in this author's inquiry...
I’ve been writing for over 10 years, looking to self publish a novella. I’ve never worked with a freelance editor before, I was wondering if anybody could go over their experiences with it. The book is a heroic fantasy that currently sits at around 39,000 words.
I’ve been sourcing around on the Internet trying to find editors, mostly looking for developmental editing at this point. I found several that might be helpful through Reedsy and some pretty extensive googling. Most of the offers I’ve received have been in the neighborhood of about 1K, which is about what I was expecting. I recently received an offer from an editor with several big names in her portfolio (Sanderson, a Dan Wells, etc.). She says she is fairly selective about who she works with, so I was very excited to get the offer. However, her offer is priced in the neighborhood of 4K, and that’s after a discount for this not being a full length novel.
Obviously this is rather pricey, but obviously I’m no expert on the market value a freelance editors in science-fiction and fantasy. Has anyone else had experiences with editors like this? What have your experience has been like, and how did you feel you found a fair price for your project?
2 - 3 tablespoons butter 1 heaped tablespoon flour Milk as needed 1 cup grated yellow cheese Salt & pepper Boiled eggs to serve
Directions:
1: Melt butter in a small pot, add flour, and stir over medium heat till blended.
2: Gradually add milk and continue stirring until it thickens a little.
3: Add grated cheese, stir till melted and is a reasonably thick consistency, then season with salt and black pepper.

COOK'S NOTES: Adjust quantities according to how many people to serve. Just keep the proportions the same. Use a sharper cheese like cheddar for best results.
